KIRAN Cymru is a non-political, non-religious grassroots community organisation open to everyone. We aim to amplify the voices of people with lived experience, whose stories often go unheard or unrecognised. It has a particular focus on supporting individuals from the following groups:
Our diverse team and service users include people from White British, Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Afghan, African, Jamaican, Sudanese, Syrian, and Iranian backgrounds. Together, we speak multiple languages, including English, Welsh, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Dari, Farsi, and Arabic, allowing us to connect with communities meaningfully and effectively.
As a community-led organisation, we are powered by people, not hierarchy. Our Board, Executive Committee, and volunteers come directly from the communities we serve, individuals with lived experience of poverty, discrimination, and inequality. This ensures that our work remains authentic, accountable, and grounded in real life.
We operate year-round, 365 days a year, standing beside those most in need. Every programme we deliver is co-designed and co-delivered by people who face the very challenges we aim to address, ensuring that our support is accessible, relevant, and empowering.
KIRAN Cymru proudly works in collaboration with government bodies, public institutions, and partner organisations that share our values of equity, empathy, and inclusion. Together, we are building a Wales where every voice is heard, every person is valued, and every community can thrive.
KIRAN Cymru is entirely managed and run by volunteers — all of whom have lived experience of the challenges and barriers faced by the people we support.
Our work is guided by a three-tier organisational structure that ensures decisions are made from the ground up — a true bottom-up model shaped by the people we serve. It is a people led organisation which is ‘By the People, For the People’.
Co-production Group
Composed of our service users and community members, this group meets regularly to identify and discuss socio-economic challenges and propose practical, community-driven solutions. Their insights ensure our programmes reflect real experiences and priorities.
Board of Trustees
The Board safeguards KIRAN Cymru’s constitution and provides overall governance. It reviews and analyses recommendations from the Co-production Group, assessing their feasibility within available budgets, timelines, and organisational values.
Executive Committee
Led by our Chief Executive, the Executive Committee implements approved programmes and initiatives. It ensures that all activities are delivered effectively, efficiently, and with integrity — in line with our community-led ethos.
