“Community stories of migration, identity and belonging in Wales.”
Home Away from Homeland is a powerful community storytelling programme that captures the lived experiences of immigrants and asylum seekers who have journeyed to Wales and made it their home.
This initiative preserves and shares the rich oral histories of Wales’ immigrant diaspora, focusing on:
🔹 Life before migration 🔹 Life after arriving in Wales 🔹 The impact of migration on identity, livelihood, and sense of belonging
Through these personal narratives, the programme explores the interplay of culture and heritage between immigrant and non-immigrant communities—shining a light on both the challenges faced and the contributions made that shape our shared society.
At its core, Home Away from Homeland is about giving voice to those often unheard—creating a space for empathy, understanding, and connection as we work together toward a more inclusive and cohesive Wales.
