Our Approach: Programmes and Projects

“Change doesn’t happen in a single moment. It happens in many — consistently, compassionately, and collectively.”
Because real change isn’t a destination – it’s a journey.

At KIRAN Cymru, we believe that sustainable community change takes consistency, structure, and time. That’s why we organise our work around long-term programmes, co-designed with our community members to reflect shared visions and lasting goals.

Our programmes are ongoing, regular, structured, and based on our aim — created not just to respond to immediate needs, but to build the kind of deep-rooted, long-term impact that our communities deserve.

How We work
To ensure our work remains relevant, our community members regularly carry out gap analyses and co-design time bound projects to respond to current needs and evolving challenges. These projects are not standalone — they are strategically aligned with our broader programme goals.

  • Programmes are built around our long-term vision (our aim) — they represent the change we want to see over years.
  • Projects are how we achieve medium-term outcomes — responsive, focused, and always designed within the framework of our programmes.
  • Projects are crafted thoughtfully with the people we serve, to respond to present-day needs while always contributing to the bigger picture.
  • Programmes are our foundation while Projects are our means.

Together, they allow us to remain both visionary and responsive.

What this means in practice
Consistent Engagement
We’re not here for one moment in time — we walk alongside our communities 365 days a year, every step of the way.

Lasting Impact
Our long-term programmes enable us to go beyond quick fixes, addressing root causes to create sustainable, transformative change.

Co-Designed Solutions
We don’t deliver top-down solutions. Every project or new activity is co-created with community members, based on real-life needs and grounded in lived experience.

Flexibility with Purpose
Our approach is dynamic. Programmes adapt over time, and projects are co-designed as and when needed, keeping our work relevant and rooted in reality

Our programmes are as follows:

  1. Lifelong Learning – Educational sessions in community set-up.
  2. South Asia Cymru heritage – Commuity led Heritage research.
  3. Home Away from Homeland – Community led storytelling based on lived experience.
  4. Walk in My Shoes – Anti-racist Wales and empathy training toolkit.
  5. Aequitas – Community Research programme
  6. Welfare Benefit Support
  7. Sustainability – We work closely with our partner organisations — Circular Living and Together for Tomorrow — to champion sustainable living and raise awareness about environmental responsibility..
